father's day 188

Father's Day is celebrated around the world to recognize the contributions that can be made to the lives of fathers and their children. Paternity and male guardians celebrate this day. Although it is celebrated on a variety of dates throughout the world, many countries celebrate this day on the third Sunday in June.

What Do People Do?

The date when Father's Day is celebrated varies from country to country. It is celebrated on the third Sunday of June in Canada, the United Kingdom, and the United States. It is also seen in countries such as Argentina, Canada, France, Greece, India, Ireland, Mexico, Pakistan, Singapore, South Africa and Venezuela. The first Sunday in September is Australia and New Zealand Father's Day. In Thailand, it is celebrated on 5 December, which is the birthday of the country's king. Brazilian dads are honored on the second Sunday of August.

On Father's Day many people make a special effort to figure out their father or father figures. Some go to visit their father, while others give cards, flowers or other gifts, such as clothing or sporting equipment, or luxury foods. Father's Day is a relatively modern holiday, so different families have different traditions. They can honor all father figures in an extended family, from a simple phone call or greeting card to large parties. Father figures may include father, stepfather, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and even other male relatives.

Father's Day is a relatively new concept in India but is celebrated in similar ways to the United Kingdom or the United States, albeit on a smaller scale. There is a greater awareness of Father's Day events in metropolitan cities and larger cities due to greater exposure of people from Western cultures in these areas. In Mexico, Father's Day is known as "Daya del Padre", where many families get together, cook meals and distribute gifts to father or father. In South Africa, many social and cultural societies host Father's Day celebrations to emphasize the important role of fathers in nurturing children and building a strong society.

Public Life

With the exception of Father's Day Thailand, most countries do not have a federal holiday because it falls on the same day as the King's birthday, which is a public holiday. For other countries, Father's Day is on Sunday, so public offices are closed on this day and very few organizations are open for business. The public transit system runs up to their weekend schedule. It is important for those wishing to dine in a restaurant on Father's Day to think about booking in advance as restaurants can be busier than usual, as many take their father out for treatment.
